Walking diaries, Giovanni’s words (pt. 1/3)

Travel stories Via degli Dei
20 January 2026

Dear reader,

we have received two diaries from a walker just like you, and with them we inaugurate a new path traced by thoughts and words, trails and sensations.

The two diaries you will find here on our blog in the coming days are titled “One Poem a Day for Your Walk” — which will take us along the Via degli Dei (September 2023)

and “One Poem a Day for Your Walk” — which will instead lead us along the Way of Saint Francis, from Rimini to La Verna (May 2025).

Some verses taken from the beautiful song by Cesare Cremonini and Luca Carboni, “San Luca”, seem to be the natural introduction to these Diaries and perfectly describe the sensations, emotions, and motivations you will find within them. There is no other way to describe it.

“Just today that the sun came out / While the others are heading to the sea / I want to be alone / So maybe I can find myself

…..

Does it happen to you too / To walk for whole days, endless days / And sink into your thoughts / Abandoned to unconfessable desires / Yes, it happens to you too / To no longer want to wait for happiness

….”

If you were uncertain about the decision to set off on your first walk or on a new journey, after reading these diaries you will find your water bottle full and you will already be ready—but you will discover that the bottle has been filled with …….

enjoy the reading,

a hug, Walker and Walkress of Life.

Walker of trails and of life
